Check out this incredible engineering masterpiece. These images are of a huge stormwater management system recently constructed for the city of Saitama, in Japan.
The system was designed to alleviate rainfall that has so far caused six serious floods in the region since 1979. According to engineers the system will reduce the flooded area of the cities metropolitan area by 80%.
A large and costly undertaking for the city of Saitama, it has yet to be put to use, however it provides real piece of mind for the city's inhabitants when the next storm hits.
