The cottage in the silent village between mountains. We wished to make the silence a space. It seemed to me that the concrete block is a silent material compared with concrete. Silence is made by the thing being alive It becomes coldness if there is no breath of a life there.
The block fit this place nicely. There are no fittings in the opening of the outside wall. Brock was just merely stacked, and the hole was merely vacant there. Quiet scenery exists.
I've looked real fast at the project and I don't agree with Nathan. This is architecture. I appreciate the choice of material and the space's development. But I still have a probleme. Watching the pictures, I don't see a silent atmosphere with all the concretes blocs. For me this construction style is the opposite of silent...
PS-: sorry my mother thongh is not english.

Another point (parallel to my first one I guess) is that it wouldn't take a trained architect to "design" a concrete breeze block house. I guess the subtleties are lost on a Joe Average cro-magnon like myself.

Nathan, it depends what you consider "architectural merit"..you were obviously expecting some bling perhaps? i for one can appreciate the restrained and simple palette of materials, the construction, and its associated details. it seems more 'honest' than a lot of buildings ive seen as of late, it is somewhat refreshing. it is what it is, nothing more. as for your comment "leave it is a patch of grass"? ...hmmm....i rest my case...

I'm sorry, but that is just a concrte breeze block oblong cuboid. Nothing special at all. What is its archtectural merit?
If it about "silence" why not just leave a big patch of grass?
